Grand Haven Jewelry Sign

This project is funded through our Collections Fund.

The Grand Haven Jewelry store opened at 115 Washington in 1949. In 1953, the store was remodeled and at that time the neon sign was added to the side of the building. By November of 1956, the store moved to the 226 Washington location where it remained until it closed in 2017. Luckily, the sign was donated to the Museum's collection in 2021.

In early 2025, the restoration of the sign was complete! See the neon artist with the finished work to left, and look for the Grand Haven Jewelry sign to make its appearance in a future exhibit. Until then, you'll be able to see the sign on a tour of the Community Archive and Research Center (CARC), or find its digital record in  Collective Access.
